Pawlicies

Thank you for the opportunity to pamper your furbabies. Our policies are put in place to run the salon like a well-oiled machine for the physical and mental safety of you, your dog, and me, the salon owner. Without rules, there would be chaos. Kanab Dog Wash does our best to make the appointment joyful and as stress free as possible, not just for your dog but also for you.  Please read the following carefully!

SALON HOURS VARY WEEK TO WEEK AND ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

YOUR FIRST VISIT

We require the pet parent to bring in and pick up on their first visit. However, if you will be sending someone else, (again, not preferred) make sure they have complete and detailed instructions for the groom. We will follow directions given by them and will accept approval of final groom by them.  Please make sure they are aware of our drop off and pick-up policies to avoid any additional fees.

We will do our very best to attempt the look you want for your dog. However, your dog is unique and has his/her own look. We appreciate pictures of your dog and how they've been groomed previously. Pictures from the internet/pinterest will likely not look the same on your dog.

While your dog is in our care

Keep your phones on you! Please be ready to answer your phone while your dog is here! Your groomer may have questions for you and need your immediate attention. We will also need to get ahold of you for pick-up.  If you are not going to be able to answer your phone while you pup is here, it might be best to reschedule on a day where you can be reached while we are caring for your dog. As much as we love having your dog here, after a long grooming session, they are ready to pee, poop, and eat. Our scheduling does not allow for the after-care that your dog requires. It's risky and unsafe for our groomer to take your dog outside in your absence.

Pesky Pests

Kanab Dog Wash has a no pest policy.

Any pet found with fleas will be treated at the owner’s expense.

If you know your dog has worms, please DO NOT bring them in. This places all other dogs in our care at risk of contracting parasites. You know who you are, I know who you are, let's not make this weird. I will charge you double, no exceptions. Please deworm your dogs. There are lots of dogs around livestock in our area, I understand that, that is not an excuse.

PLEASE DEWORM YOUR DOGS!! IT'S DISGUSTING!!!

GROOMING SENSITIVITY/LACK OF SOCIALIZATION TO GROOMING

In case a dog is not socialized to grooming or has mild or severe sensitivities and we are not able to finish the grooming, the dog owner is still responsible for payment of the time dedicated attempting to groom the dog. Kanab Dog Wash DOES NOT accept aggressive or ungroomable dogs.

Pre-appointment Zoomies and Potty Requirements

Please, exercise the zoomies out of your dog and potty them at home before arriving at the salon. Also, pups with full bellies and bladders can experience “belly aches” and anxious behavior during the grooming process (doo-doo). It’s best not to feed them the morning of their appointment. Feed them dinner the night before and then hold off until after the groom is completed before feeding them.

DROP OFF

Punctuality is Paramount

Kanab Dog Wash expects you to arrive at the time you are booked for your dog's appointment. You may drop off up to 10 minutes early. It’s better to be early than late!  Arriving 15 minutes late or more may result in a cancelled appointment and a no-show fee OR a late fee of $25 should we still be able to accommodate you.

Give us a call if you know you are running behind.  Communication is KEY.

RESPECTFULLY, YOUR DOG DOES BETTER WITHOUT YOU HERE
THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE

Kanab Dog Wash expects you to drop your dog off and promptly leave. This is actually more helpful and (most importantly) due to insurance requirements. Additionally, your dog will appreciate it, he/she is more nervous with you present.

In the past, we have tried to accommodate customers and their dogs allowing pet parents to be present. I've tried to find a way to make this work to build trust but insurance policies have forced my hand on this issue.

PICK UP

PICK-UP NOTIFICATION & LATE PICK-UP FEE

Kanab Dog Wash will call/text you when your dog is done. Usually you will get a 15–20 minute heads up. On-time pick-up is required since we have limited space and do not offer daycare services at this time, sorry, Kanab City rules.

Again, keep your phones on you!!

Dogs are required to be picked up promptly after being notified of the expected completion time. Please let me know or call/text back if you cannot come within 30 minutes of being notified.  Failure to not pick up within that time period, will result in a fee of $20 per ½ hour starting the first minute after the initial 30-minute window and should your pet soil their kennel and need to be bathed again, you will be charged for that bath. Kanab Dog Wash's hours vary on a daily basis. WE CLOSE when the last dog is finished. Could be as early as 1pm or as late at 5pm. Do not assume that we are open all day. Dogs not picked up by closing time (which varies) will incur a $1 per minute late fee starting 20 minutes after the last dog is finished.

Case in point --- please proceed directly to the salon as soon as you are notified or shortly thereafter.

Additionally, please do not show up unless notified. The purpose for this is to allow me to finish the groom before your arrival. Your dog can sense you even driving to the salon and as soon as they sense you, the dog becomes ungroomable.

Remember, this is all for your dog's well-being.

FEMALE DOGS: WE DO NOT GROOM DOGS IN HEAT!

Females in season are temperamental and disruptive to male dogs in the salon. (Even the neutered ones) Besides that.. It’s gross!  Know your dogs schedule.  Last minute cancellations for this reason are not acceptable and will be charged a no show fee.

***  RESCHEDULING / CANCELLATIONS/NO SHOWS ***

Kanab Dog Wash sends out one reminder by text, on the morning of your appointment, but it is your responsibility to remember, and with today’s technology, there are many other ways to keep track of appointments, such as iPhone reminders, Google Calendar, Google Home, your dog's appearance, etc. Kanab Dog Wash requires a 24hr notice to cancel or reschedule appointments. Failure to give required notice will result in a no-show/last minute cancellation fee equal to 50% of the service appointment or a $25 minimum.

These fees double during the week prior to Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We do understand life happens and will only consider waiving these fees for real emergencies. Rain Check... If the weather determines your dog’s grooming schedule, please check the latest weather forecast. Weather is not an acceptable excuse for a last minute cancellation or a no show. Rain or shine, we're grooming all the time! Cancellations MUST be done via text or phone call. Do not email!!

Not Satisfied with the Haircut?

We will be glad to adjust the cut of your dog free of charge,  Please let us know ASAP and arrange with me to bring your pup back within 48 hours. This does not include if you "changed your mind" and want a different clip or length than you originally told us. Please check your dog’s haircut before leaving the salon.

Your dog is unique and we do our very best to attempt the look you have asked for, however, dogs are dogs. We will do the best we can with each individual dog. Our main goal, beside a cute cut, is their health, safety, and comfort.

Payment And Pricing

Our prices are based on length of times spent grooming your dog. Therefore, prices can fluctuate depending on size of pet, change in haircut, condition of coat or length of time between appointments. Dogs that go more than 8 weeks between appointments almost always require more time and can be expected to be 15%-25% higher than normal pricing, at least.

Complete list of starting prices can be found on our homepage.

You may pay by debit/credit card. However, we really appreciate cash payments to keep business cost down. Tipping your groomer is appreciated. We also accept Venmo.

New Appointment Policies

We highly recommend every 4 to 6 week appointments and prefer no more than 8 weeks. Building relationships, builds trust and creates a positive and less stressful grooming experience for your dog. We will still offer appointments to those that go longer than 8 weeks for services but the groom may require a complete nose to tail shave and/or additional cost due to the extra time required to groom your dog.  We want to concentrate on building relationships with our furry clients and their owners, which can’t be done if we don’t see them on a regular basis.

I truly appreciate clients who make a routine of scheduling care for their furchildren.

Help me help you. Thank you.

De-Matting

Kanab Dog Wash will no longer offer de-matting services beyond a few tangles.

*** It’s uncomfortable for the pet, hard on the groomer, and creates a dislike for grooming by your dog. ***

We go to great length to educate owners how to prevent matting so dogs should arrive mat-free.  Those that do not wish to maintain areas that need at-home maintenance will need to expect their pups to be clipped short as we have to for a pain-free grooming. If you are not sure how to prevent matting, I will be happy to show you (once).

If you've made it this far into reading our policies, we thank you and we appreciate you. You obviously care about the well-being of your dog and their experience in my salon.

If you have any questions, please ask!
